Uniform, Knive Set, Timetable!

Le Cordon Bleu's uniform looks really smart. Th uniform consists of the Chef jacket, Chef trousers, apron, neck scarf, hat, and non-slip kitchen footwear. We even have our own tea and oven towels!




Happy me! ^_^

One thing, the chef trousers are way too big and long! It's the smallest size. It cost £15 to alter the length of each pair of trousers! Back home, it cost me only S$5. Time to sew!!!


Took me 2 hrs to sew 2 pairs of trousers. =X   I think I did a great job! ^_^ Yeah! It fits now.

I love my Le Cordon Bleu Knife Set from WÜSTHOF. They are razor sharp! We were told during our orientation that we will definitely have a cut or two from using these knives. *Gasp!*

Look! The entire set... From cleaver to utility knife.. peeler, spatula, spoons & whisk. =D This is my favourite knife & tool set so far...





To make them even more special, I had them all engraved with my name. Cool huh?  ^_^

My  group has the best timetable. We get the entire weekend off plus Monday! Most of my classes are on Thursdays and Fridays. At least I get the long weekend to rest. ^_^ I'm looking forward to those demonstrations and practicals. I'm so excited! It's been a long time since I last baked...  :) my hands are dying to do something to the flour... butter... sugar... eggs...

First day at school: Orientation Day

Today is my first day at School - Le Cordon Bleu, London!



Le Cordon Bleu (French for "The Blue Ribbon") is the most prestigious and established cooking school in the world with 115 years of teaching the highest standards of French culinary techniques. Through its faculty of Master Chefs and industry professionals, students are able to immerse themselves in foundations of French gastronomy developing their palates and personal style, while mastering these fundamentals of cooking.

Opened in 1933, Le Cordon Bleu London has always attracted attention as being the finest school for culinary education and with the ever growing attention to the British food scene the demand for culinary arts training continues to grow.

This is my dream come true, to study at the prestigious world renown culinary school. I have been extremely blessed and fortunate to be able  to come here and do what I love. Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family for their support, encouragement, and love. Thank you!!! I love you all so so much. Without you all, I will not be here.

A year ago, I applied for the pâtisserie course and a few months later, I received a mail telling me that I have been accepted! Today, I'm finally here.


Orientation today starts at 10am. We were split into different groups as there were too many of us. Some of them are doing cuisine, patisserie, or both. I'm in Group C, see my name.. it's right at the top. Altogether there are seven of us in this group.



We were introduced to the Chef instructors, a tour of the school, details of the course, explanation of our timetables, collection of uniforms and knife set... even a fire drill! All done by 3pm.

Met a lot of great people who share the same passion like I do. With that, we naturally feel close to one another even though we all just met! ^_^  The people in my group are fantastic! I feel we will all get along very well. All of us are from all over the world! I met one girl, Jess, from Singapore! She's not in my group though, but we met while waiting for the orientation outside the school. It's always nice to know someone from my own home country.
